  • Is there a cooler guy out there than Tony Romo?

Not only is he the QB of "America's Team", not only is he a 60 million dollar man (with about 20 in guaranteed money), not only does he have a hot girlfriend (Jessica Simpson) and hott ex (Carrie Underwood), but he's also one of the most down to earth, nicest individuals ever!  I was watching my daily fixing of sports show and heard a story of Romo paying for a movie ticket for a homeless man.  I did some searching and it appears it showed up here: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/football/cowboys/stories/112008dnsporomobrite.41c8682.html.  Total random act of kindness or RAK as I like to call it.  My personal favorite part was when the man told Romo that he had not showered in five days and Romo said that it's alright because he was used to locker rooms.  This is right up there with the time earlier in the season where Romo helped a couple with a flat tire on his way home from the season opener against the Browns.  You know sports athletes get a lot of criticism because most casual people only hear about the DUI's, arrests, assaults, drugs, and negative news about them, but in reality only a small portion of athletes ever make news for negative reasons.  Sports athletes are some of the most genrous people in the world.  Most of their good random deeds never get too mainstream and most athletes prefer it that way.  I remember the time when Charles Barkley crashed into a couple's car and to pay them back he bought them a brand new car.  I wish more of these stories are put up on the news rather than the bad stuff.  It does re-kindle my "faith in mankind".  I think I'll do some sort of RAK this weekend.

  • My take on recent news

First off the bailout of the auto industry, and the bailout in general.  Seriously, why?  Now I'm all for people keeping their jobs.  I would hate for the auto industry to capsize and 3 million people be left without a job, but the auto companies themselves do not deserve a bailout.  Their business model has been atrocious the past 20 years.  When they finally changed their model it was too late.  Even now I still see these commercials for cars that no one wants to buy or drive.  Personally American cars have lost their appeal.  And not just for the obvious fuel efficiencies (and don't give me this crap about 30+ mpg rated cars... thats on the highway.  People care about city usage and that will drop to like 20 mpg), but also for looks and style.  Outside of the Mustang I hate how all these cars look (and I only like the Mustang because its a throwback to the days when American companies were innovative and stylish).  They are all either too boxy or too heavy for my tastes. Recently, actually I think today I heard a quote from a New York congressman Gary Ackerman talking to CEOs from the "Big 3".  He said (and I paraphrase a bit) he finds it ironic how you all are asking for a bailout when you're taking a private jet to Washington and disembarking with tin cups, It's like going to a soup kitchen and asking for a handout in a tux and top-hat.  Seriously, if you give these guys money they are just going to squander it away.  Thank you but no thanks, your industry needs new leadership and new vision.  Heck I'd be more infavor of bailing out the workers of these aut companies that would be affected by the capsizing of the industry.  Sorry but I like my small Japanese car that runs great, gets great gas mileage (28-30 in the city beotches!), and has never had any major problems that I got for a bit more than an American equivalent.  As for the bailout, Bernanke and Paulson you are a deutschebags!  Whatever happened to the buying up of bad mortgages?  You're not doing that anymore?  Wasn't that the purpose?  Whatever happened to the plan that the people paying for this bailout would get something out of it?  I actually liked that part, but that wasn't even a part of the final plan...  There's something shady going on there.  Anyways the crap ideads spewing from Bernanke and Paulson's ass mouth sucks and you two should know you've failed Jim Cramer!  EPIC FAIL!

Now to the people that need to go the fuck away!  Yes I'm talking about you Palin the diva whackjob Governor and you Joe the dumbass plumber.  I'm not going to spend too much time with them because I feel like I would lose intelligence.  Joe the plumber apparently defended Palin in some school journal or something saying stuff like "
[The McCain campaign] is trying to throw Sarah Palin under the bus. They are trying to allude to the fact that she is the reason that John McCain might have lost this election. That does not sit well with me. John McCain has not come out and said that Sarah Palin is an honorable woman and has not protected her" and "Honestly, I think she shines too much. I think vice president no, president definitely. She has moral values. She has a record of change that ... John McCain had supposedly … Sarah was actually too big of a personality, too big of a person to be vice president."  Well too Joe, watch Leno much?  John McCain defended an airhead, zealot nutjob as best as he could and then some.  Dude you and your friends don't know shit so stop talking shit!  Damn extreme conservatives are going to ruin us all!  If you're actually interested in the interview hit the link http://www.tuftsdaily.com/an_interview_with_joe_the_plumber.  Seriously (I think I use this word too much), if the Republicans should follow anyone follow Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota or Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska who have a clear vision of the future for the party, not a stronger look backwards that most conservatives have.

Speaking of Republicans, um Mr. President Elect...  I trust you and all... but, umm :scratches back of head: where is the bi-partisanship?  All I seem to see is you hiring former Clinton adminstration people to be on your staff... Heck even a Clinton herself.  Like I totally trust your judgement.  You're smarter, better looking, and more qualified than I am (just how I like my women politicians), but I'm pretty sure bi-partisan means bringing some peeps over from the other side.  Hey Hagel's retiring as a senator, you should totally give him a job.  It's not like he's going to have anything to do in two months.  Oh and this was brought to my attention a few days ago, but my friend told me that Rahm Emanuel is actually the older brother of Ari Emanuel, who is a Hollywood super agent, who is the basis of the character Ari Gold from one of my favorite TV shows Entourage.  Seriously, thats pretty damn cool!  Don't believe me? http://www.jewishjournal.com/elections/article/rahm_emanuels_brother_ari_emanuel_is_a_hollywood_superagent_20081106/.  Best nickname ever for our new white house chief of staff... "Rahm-bo"!  Score!  Now if Obama can find some place on his staff to put Jeremy Piven in we'd be set... or at least a guest appearance on Entourage for the President-elect.  C'mon, you know that's the true reason he hired Rahm Emanuel.  I can see it now... Vinny Chase and Barack Obama starring in a reboot of Lethal Weapon.  Hahahaha!

Alright I'm starting to get random.  Time to end this.  Tomorrow (hopefully), epic screencaps of Code Geass R2!

  • Great Start Rebels!

A good opening night win against a solid San Diego team that won their conference tournament and won a game in the big dance.  All in all the young players played well and the D was good enough for the tough win.  Some individual highlights:

Wink - Do what you do brother!  Clutch as always.  This is is kind of game you hope for from your team captain who's playing his senior year.  Only one criticism... Don't rush those mid-range jumpers.  You can get those kind of looks all season!  Knock those down and you'll be averaging 23 points a game at least.

Joe D - Slow start but Robo Joe made some key treys in the second half and came up with some good boards.  Keep the confidence up and keep shooting!

Rene - Fills up the stat sheet like always!  6 points, 10 boards, 2 steals, 2 blocks.  Damn!

Bellfield - Dude, you're gonna be a star!  It seems like you were like lighting out there.  13 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, and a block?  Nice young one!

Santee - Solid underneath play.  It feels right to have legit size inside.

Massamba - YOU ARE GONNA BE A BEAST!  Raw but so much potential.  Can't wait to see you truck some fools underneath once you develop.

Rutledge - Love the hussle.  Enjoy your senior year!

Willis - Keep working.  Not a great game.  I think some nerves hit right out the gate.  Love the athleticism so just keep working hard.  It'll pay off!

To the young players... cal down!  A bit too many turnovers for my liking.  Less turnovers means better chance at a W.  If we keep turning the ball over like this we WILL get creamed by Louisville, and have tougher times against Arizona and BYU.  Ball control!  Kruger knows it.  He said it in his post-game interview.  Just listen to coach K young ones.

I'm really gonna be loving this season.  For all you Las Vegans and UNLV students that don't watch these games you're missing out.  This could be a historic year.  There really is no reason to miss this opportunity.  Heres the schedule!  I'll see you guys there!  Games I'm looking forward to:  Cal, @ Reno, Ariz, @ Louisville, Colo State, and of course BYU.

  • A semi-hungover update...

So I watch a special advanced screening of Goldfinger Quantum of Solace.  It was really good.  I kind of like Casino Royale a bit better though.  Probably because they had some poker in it.  Probably because the theme song wasn't a stupid mashup with Jack White and Alicia Keys (seriously, whoever thought of pairing those two up should be shot!).  But Quantum of Solace was pretty good.  I love the dirtier edgier Bond.  I think Brosnan's Bond piqued at Goldeneye.  I've always hated Roger Moore's Bond.  I actually like Dalton's couple of Bond movies.  Of course the quintessential Bond will always be Connery but Daniel Craig keeps pushing the envelope.  I love how the character has depth to it.  Even though he won't show it, he has emotion and has a heart.  Somehow I think that was missing in some Bond movies of yore.  Worst moment of the movie was the opening sequence.  The Aston Martin DBS gets messsed up again!  Not as bad as Casino Royale but just enough to actually hurt my persona more...  The whole freaking passenger side was messed up, complete with missing door.  I shed a tear for the car.  That was all for the Aston Martin...  no more scenes for it after the opening.  Best moment of the movie was towards the end.  The scene reminded you of a certain scene from Casino Royale with Vesper Lynd (is that her last name?  Too lazy to imdb it up at the moment).  Those who watch will will notice it too.  Again showing Bond's softer side was a good thing.  Wow, now that I'm actually blogging about the movie I actually really like it.  Seriously go check it out.  Oh and my LoL moment of the movie came when they showed off Bond's charm.  Hehehe.  All Bond has to do is look at a lady, and say "I've seemed to lost the stationary.  Can you help me look for it?"  And all of a sudden they sleep together!  WTF!  Why can't I pull that shit off!  I gotta work on my English accent!

In other news... drinking is bad.  You shouldn't do it kiddies!   Seriously.  What's even worse when you're drinking...  hearing someone you like know talk about someone else.  That just makes you want to drink even more.  Seriously the -OH groups are baaaaad.  Well until next time...

  • Fall 2009 Anime to watch and All hail Brittania!

The fall anime season has kicked off and the first few episodes have been shown.  These are some animes that I am watching this fall and highly recommend watching:

    Casshern SINS
A reboot of a 70s anime.  The story revolves around a cyborg who brought about the destruction of the world, but has no memories of what he did and who he is.  So far the series has been a dark sad tale of a world on the brink of destruction.  Dark is good!

    Kurozuka
From the same studio that brought about Death Note.  It's a tale of love, obsession, the darkness of humanity, and vampires.  The story itself takes place over a timeframe of what I believe to be 1000 years.  A bloodbath of goodness!

    Toaru Majutsu no Index
A classic boy meets girl anime... with a twist.  The story is set in a world where science and magic cross paths.  A girl that has the information of 103,000 magical books stumbles across a student who is sort of an esper (humans infused with powers through science) that can cancel all things esper and magical with his right hand.  The story follows there journey.  This one is full of hilarious situations and some bad ass action sequences.

    Toradora
A high school romance anime.  The main girl and boy each like someone else.  Both girl and boy have bad reputations.  Both make a pact with each other to woo the one each likes.  Funny, funny, funny stuff in this one.

    ef a Tale of Melodies
I have downloaded this one but have yet to watch it.  I only list this because I watched ef a Tale of Memories and I liked that series so I'm sure it'll be good.

and for those who watched season 1... Gundam 00 season 2
What can I say.  A very deep and involved Gundam.  Best I've seen since Gundam Wing.  This season though, Gundam goes where no mecha anime goes before it... the main characters grow up!  Yes, it's a shocker but the main character actually look more adult now four years into the future.  Theyre no longer tweens!

I'm sure there are other good ones (I'm actually not listing two animes I'm currently watching just because I like them but don't really think they are good...hehe :cough: Tales of the Abyss :cough:) but these are the only new ones I'm going to be watching.  Heck I still have Blassreiter, Real Drive, and Nabari no Ou to finish (thanks for releasing so damn slow!).  Some other animes I may be downloading when the series is done may be Skip Beat, Mouryou no Hako, and Shikabane Hime: Aka.

In other anime news, for those who didn't know Code Geass has officially ended last month...  And I just have to say I'm still having withdrawl symptoms from it.  Hands down Code Geass has been one of THE MOST FUN animes to watch that I have ever seen (was that even a real sentence?).  For me it ranks right up there with Tenchi Muyo and Suzumiya Harurhi no Yuuutsu (which by the way they'll be making a season 2!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!).  All the epic mind-fucking twists and mind-raping turns this anime gave me was well worth it.  Lelouch is my hero even if the whole world hates him damnit!  One of these days I will make a Zero costume and cosplay as Zero (complete with Geass lighting effects).  Anyone interested in being my harem sex slave stable Order of the Black Knights comrades Kallen and C.C.?  All hail Lelouch!  All hail Brittania!

I'll put up some of my favorite scenes in another blog with my own unique captions =)
